During the sixties and seventies my uncle Jack (Jack F. Chandu 1925 Batavia/Jakarta - 1994 The Hague) gave lectures about his adventure trips while working as a reporter for "De Wereldkroniek", a Dutch weekly magazine with reports from the royal family, the latest from Paris, exciting stories from far away, housewives' tips and horoscopes. Jack travelled all around the world, but mostly in Southeast Asia. During his travels he often tried to come in contact with shamans, tradition medicine men and sorcerers in order to learn from them and integrate their knowledge in his own practice as a holistic healer. He wrote books on these subjects and had

both patients and students.
What he told on these lectures and slide shows, I can only guess. It is said his lectures were well attended, entertaining and a bit equivocal. Unfortunately I never got to hear any of his stories, Uncle Jack passed away a long time ago. I inherited the whole collection of these slides through my aunt. The material consisted of a mixture of own images, purchased slide images and photographed illustrations from books and magazines. A selection I made of these slides were used for the Uncle Jack Paintings
